Arkansas Band Changing Name after Trademark Dispute

Fayetteville, Arkansas—The band formerly known as Molten Lava and currently known as bogus Molten Lava or fake Molten Lava is pleased to announce they will change their name to “Boom Kinetic”. The switch to Boom Kinetic (formerly Molten Lava) will be accompanied by an overhaul in the websites of the band that will take place over the next two months.
            In late June, Boom Kinetic received notice from another band called “Molten Lava” asking the high-energy pop band to change their name. The other band had managed to file a state trademark several days before the notice.
            Boom Kinetic remains committed to providing an experience for all fans. In addition, the band will be releasing their first album in August.
            During this change, the band’s websites will still remain active until we are convinced all fans have noted the change. For performances, the band will be billed as Boom Kinetic (formerly Molten Lava) for the next several months.

Also note a suddenly full and strikingly similar show schedule. Yet again, we forgot to tradmark our show schedule. The wedding on the fifth is a mistake…for us, bogus molten lava, anyway.

Hello fans of Molten Lava and welcome. We noticed a recent blog by another band named Molten Lava (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=78541509&blogID=408839197) - whom we will now refer to as Bogus Molten Lava - about a name dispute between us and them. We failed to find any mention of the fact that a member of Bogus Molten Lava was both a friend and fan of ours (real Molten Lava) during his tenure in Searcy, AR. However, by now we expect that he is no longer a fan, though still a friend. Regardless, we mean no harm to you, them or anyone’s love of 80’s covers and wish the very best to Bogus Molten Lava and all their future endeavors.

Are we taking ourselves too seriously? Absolutely. But don’t blame us - blame our robot drummer.

Molten Lava No Longer Suitable Name For America’s Favorite Band from the Future

Molten Lava Fans:

We, Molten Lava, the band people actually go to see, has been asked to change our name by a band based out of Searcy, AR also called Molten Lava. Unfortunately, they were able to file a trademark (yesterday according to the State Attorney General’s website). We will now refer to them as the real Molten Lava. Until we come up with a new name, we’re the fake Molten Lava.
We need you’re help. Enter the Name the Band contest. Send us your name ideas that best suits our band. We’ll pick some out and then hold a vote. The person who submits the winning name will be granted lifetime list status.
Also join us in a boycott of the Real Molten Lava for being poor sports. Don’t attend the two shows they have listed on their myspace page, both in october, one of them TBA or buy their album. I didn’t catch the name of the album, but I might call it “How to Take my Band Way Too Undeservingly Seriously” Just a thought.

The Molten Lava EP

For all of you excited Lavaheads out there, we’re looking to release our newly recorded EP in the next month or so. That’s right, in case you haven’t heard, Molten Lava is doing original music. You got your first taste of this with “Girl With the Gamma Ray”. Now, we’ll be introducing “I Now Declare this a Disaster Area” and “Goodbye is a Numbers Game” during our live performances.

Several weeks ago we went to Nashville, TN to record these songs along with a new version of Gamma Ray you won’t want to miss. Thanks to Dave Wilson and Vibe 56 studios for their hard work and hospitality, by the way. We’re in the process of mixing and mastering all that noise so we can present to you in the best way possible. Here’s how it’s going to go down: we’ll be making “I Now Declare this a Disaster Area”, “Goodbye is a Numbers Game”, and “Girl with the Gamma Ray” available for download on iTunes and a number of other music sites by the end of May or mid June. We’ll also have some CD copies you can come get at the shows.

What you’ve got to do is go to iTunes or the other sites and download this three song EP. Why? Because it’s most likely the most important music ever created. You’ve also got to tell everyone you know to go download it. Why? Because it’s most likely the most important music ever created.

Here’s what one critic (who happens to be me) said about the songs:

When I first listened to ”Goodbye is a Numbers Game”, I thought I was listening to the future…literally. Not the future of music or Molten Lava, but the future of mankind and life; and I thought it was coming from the future. I thought I bought an iPod that had been transported back through time by space aliens or super smart future people to Best Buy where through some stroke of luck, I picked it up. I almost turned it off thinking, “Doc Brown would not be pleased”, but I listened on anyway–the space-time continuum be damned. Yes, I would be willing to undo Existence just to listen to this song. It was like a hummingbird made out of diamonds suddenly took ill. Without the energy to carry the weight of his precious stones on his frail and hollow bones–his beauty now his curse– he was able to fly no more. The steady and rapid beating of his wings slowed to sporadic flutters–the nothing. The small bird burdened by his glistening rocks gave into gravity and splashed down in a moonlit marsh.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, we will be making the song available…for free download on our myspace site. When the time comes, you’ll be able to go to myspace, download the song, and play it on your mp3 player of choice—you can put it in iTunes and burn a CD if you feel so inclined. The Future of Molten Lava is in Your Hands

Northwest Arkansas’ favorite band will be entering the studio to record original music. Molten Lava will be recording their first session in Fayetteville at East Hall Recording hopefully having something available toward the end of February. Another session will take place in Nashville, Tennessee in April. We’re still hammering out the details about how this will be made available. Certainly, you will be able to get some songs off of our myspace page and hopefully here on the website.

Molten Lava’s muti-layered, multi-locale, multi-dimensional project will include video, audio, and live performances showcasing a variety of themes including volcanoes, lava, lasers, fog, space, space cars, space based lasers, earth based lasers, earth destroying space based lasers, space destroying earth based lasers, black holes, gamma rays, space cars, disaster areas, Moonsters (monsters from the moon), Jupitsters (monsters from Jupiter), Sunsters (people who like to stick their face in the sun), cosmic rays, magma, comet, comet based moon and earth destroying fogs and lasers, earth based Jupiter destroying volcanoes that shoot out gamma rays, the end of the earth by gamma ray bursts, the end of the earth in 2012 due to the aligning of the planets with the black hole in the middle of the Milky Way galaxy as predicted by the Mayan calendar, nuclear explosions, fusion reactors, hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, beer, and rhinos.

Basically what we’re looking at is one of the most important projects taking place in the universe right now. Molten Lava is soliciting government grants in order to fund the project (which may or may not involve building a spaceship). The project may or may not include a large underground facility housing alien spacecraft obtained in the Roswell crash of 1948.

The Molten Lava original project began, coincidentally, in the year 1948 in the state of New Mexico. Then president Lincoln was personally presiding over a top secret investigation into tapes retrieved from the wreckage of an extraterrestrial craft retrieved by the U.S. Airforce in the Sahara Desert as part of Operation Desert Storm. The tapes are rumored to have contained strange music from the future. A team of the world’s top scientist was formed in order to decode and reconstruct the badly damaged tapes. However many years later it is now, the scientist, now long dead, have finally reconstructed the tapes and have sought out a band awesome enough to replicate those recordings. That band is Molten Lava. Oddly enough, turns out, the music of the future discovered in that crash is, coincidentally, a recording of Molten Lava that Molten Lava will now re-record, which is terribly inconvenient considering we just recorded it. Obviously we expect the recordings will once again be stolen by space aliens and so we are seeking means to protect the goods. On the up side we don’t have to write the music because we already did….in the future. The future is now my friends. Stay tuned.
